Sooooooooooooo, it has been more than a year since my last post. Life made me so busy that it made me forgot some of the things I love to do – one of which is writing. And now that I kinda have some free time, I decided to revisit the blog I created almost 3 years ago. Lots of things happened in the past 3 years and I am still deciding if I want to share some of those stuff in here.

Anyway, going back to the present, I decided that my comeback post will be about one of my favorite persons in the world — THE Taylor Swift. I am a fan since ’08, when Love Story was released. I even attended her RED Tour here in Manila (the first concert I ever attended). She is the reason why I love the number thirteen (thus the title of this post) and the color red. And if you will visit my Tumblr blog, you will really notice how huge of a fan I am.

Today, June 13th, I am going to share to you my Top 13 Favorite Taylor Swift Songs. It is actually difficult to choose because all of her songs are really good, not that I am being biased but if you will really listen to her tracks and appreciate the lyrics, you will understand what I am saying.

So, without further ado, here are my Top 13 Favorite Taylor Swift Songs:

Remember that time when you’re reading an article about life lessons or anything that is related to life and how it will change you or affect you or urge you to do something that will make a big impact on your life, stuff like that? There are lots of them, I mean if you have a Tumblr account or you occasionally read blogs, or if you read books (Tuesdays With Morrie is highly recommended). Then you came to the realization that life is indeed complex yet it is enjoyable, that life is already complicated so let us not make it more complicated, that life is meant to be exciting and amazing, and the realization goes on.

As I said, there are lots of them, some you already have read or seen somewhere. Others will call these rules or whatsoever they call these things, but what’s important is how they will affect or inspire you as a person and how they will help you to become a better individual.

Do not be afraid to start again. Will you get a new job? Can you pass the test this time? Will someone love you again? We’re scared, and that is the reason why some people are unhappy or they think they have unfulfilled lives. Just because you failed the last time doesn’t mean you can’t start all over again. Do not be afraid to try again and explore new things. Do not hesitate to do it just because others said you couldn’t. Remember you are doing this for yourself, not for them. Be brave or at least pretend to be, no one can tell the difference. Take the risk. As Nike says, “Just do it.”

Do not let anyone bring you down. Okay, it takes only one person to break your focus but do not let that person ruin everything. Some people are that attentive to notice the negative. You cannot please everyone and you don’t have to please anyone. Just focus on the good and pursue your goals. Think of the persons who are there to encourage you and support you and lift you higher.

Follow your heart and be happy. They say that the best choices happen when you follow your heart. When you love what you are doing, you don’t feel tired or bored easily, you smile throughout the problems, and you feel fulfilled and can reach goals you never thought you could. When you love something, there is no such thing as no time, you will make time.

Learn when to say it is enough. Stop insisting you can when in fact you just can’t. Keep trying but also learn to pull back when things don’t go your way. This doesn’t mean that you are giving up, it’s just accepting the fact that there are certain things that are really not meant to be yours.

It is okay to ask for help. You don’t have to know everything. You don’t have to do it all by yourself. Do not be afraid to say “I don’t know.” Do not be afraid to say “no” or “I can’t.” Ask for help if you really need to. Even superheroes need help sometimes.

Fall in love with yourself. Take yourself out on a me-myself-and-I date every once in a while. Drink coffee or go watch the movie alone. Do not stress yourself about something that won’t matter in three years. Sing at the top of your lungs. Laugh until you cry. Do what makes you happy. Be you. Fall in love with yourself.

Forgive. No matter how unforgiveable the person is, learn to forgive. Not because they deserve it, but because you deserve a peace of mind.

Do not compare your life to others. You have no idea what they’re going through or what their journey is all about. You may have something they don’t have and you should be thankful about it.

Envy is a waste of time. Be contented and happy with what you already have, not what you think you need.

However good or bad a situation is, it will change. Well, the only permanent thing in this world is change, right? So if everything’s fine and oh-so-right, enjoy it and appreciate every single thing for it may change and you’ll never know. When you’re in a bad situation, on the other hand, pray. Have faith and do not, ever, lose hope. Just believe that He won’t give us something we cannot handle. And believe in miracles.

Thank God. Always, always thank Him for everything, good or bad, for in good things we learn to appreciate and from bad we learn lessons. Every single thing is a blessing from Him.

The best is yet to come. Be patient. You don’t get what you want? Then maybe, He has a better plan or gift for you. Learn to wait.

Life isn’t tied with a bow, but it’s still a gift. The best gift we ever received, that is life. So enjoy every second of it. Every single day is a chance to make all the possible things that will make your life meaningful and worth living. Make your life one of the best in the planet, ‘cause hey, YOLO!

The Results Are In!

It’s been 11 days (8 working days) since the last day of our licensure examination and finally the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) released the result of our said examination today. The said examination was conducted last October 1, 2, 8 and 9 covering 6 sujects namely: Advanced Financial Accounting and Reporting (AFAR), Auditing, Financial Accounting and Reporting (FAR), Management Services (MS), Taxation and Regulatory Framework for Business Transactions (RFBT).

It’s been quite a journey for me and the other 14,389 Accountancy graduates, almost 6 years (others more than that) of preparing for this one licensure examination that will tell what’s going to happen to you for the next years or so. I am one of those who are not that fortunate enough to be included on the list of passers. The second I know I didn’t pass the exam, it’s like the world stopped spinning around, asking myself where did I go wrong? I didn’t cry, I didn’t tell my parents actually although my sister knew since she’s the first one to see the announcement. I let what’s in front of me sink in – I didn’t pass the exam, until my high school adviser sent me a message telling me that just because she didn’t see my name on the list doesn’t mean she’s less proud of me. That’s when I started crying. I feel like I am such a disappointment. It’s really difficult to convince yourself that it’s okay and everything will be fine because things are not fine, it is really not okay. Seeing your friends or someone you know who passed the board exam celebrating and posting thank you messages on different social media sites, it’ll make you envious to be honest. But then I realized that life goes on, few days from now or a week or weeks everything will be back to normal, we have to live our lives again, continue as if nothing happened it’s just that there will be some changes – others will start working, living their dreams, and some fulfilling their dreams, they will enter a review program again hoping that this time they get what they ask for.

I am still thankful, thankful because 6 years of studying under this program is not a joke, we’ve been through different hardships, struggles, it is nerve-racking, stressful, will make you physically and mentally tired, and will drain you financially but Papa God gives me the strength I needed when times were really tough. He guided me all throughout, ever since I have decided that this is the career path I want to take. I think this is one of the good things that happened to me on this journey aside from meeting new good friends, other aspects of my life may had been tired and drained but the spiritual aspect strengthened, I became closer to Him.

Another thing to thank for is having those people around you who understand what you’re going through, people who don’t think that you are a failure but who think of you as someone who gave your very best and supporting you all the way as you pursue your dreams. To my parents and closest friends, thank you so much! I may have failed you but I ain’t giving up because you motivated me to keep moving forward, to do better and see this as a positive thing. Thank you so much for your unending support!

I know He has better plans for me, I believe that. Besides, this is not the end, I will not stop fighting for my dreams. So shoutout to my co-CPAs in transit, do not lose hope for I know we will all be CPAs maybe not now but soon, very soon. Still, find time to thank Him and pray, just pray it helps!
